Family "Antiques"

This stuff now has it's own section and I enlarged a few pictures to see more detail as well.  Enjoy!

Here's the Plaskool cobbler's bench:
... that was always at Grandmother's & Pappy's
that the grandkids (like me) would play with.  We have let Brianna play with it some, but
we're afraid to let Alex to play with it when he's at an age.  He might turn into Mario from
Donkey Kong going around using the hammer on everything!  Note all the parts are wooden.
Some pegs have gone missing through the years.

(ABOVE)The den was a mess that day, but you can see Grandmother's old sewing box to the right and behind Brianna in this picture before it just simply fell apart one day.

This was "supposedly" considered my great grandfather's shaving mug (could have one of a few), but it may just be simply that, a mug.  There's no inner 'shelf' inside it, like most older shaving mugs normally have.

Notice there's no 'shelf' for the lather brush to "lean" on, it looks just like a normal old fancy cup, made from Germany.

Not really an 'antique' per se, but it's meaningful to everyone in the family.   The one below brings back many a memory.  If I remember correctly, Pappy & Grandmother bought these in Pennsylvania around 'Quaker' country, I think.  I could be completely wrong.  "Tis the gift to be simple, 'tis the gift to be free..."

A familiar table gets a facelift!

This table was made in the US many decades ago.  We had a time trying to research from the company that made this table, and it's worth (which is nothing now since it's been refinished) much to us.  The original color was an ugly green or yellow.  The company that made it are famous for kitchen cabinets, not table & chairs!  We found online an old flier for the company.  You can just barely see the edge of this table on the front cover of the advertisement, where you can see the edge of one of the ends of the table.

When Pappy was still alive, he let Buddy borrow the pipe to find a tassle replacement.  The pipe was Pappy father's, Louie (or Ludwig).  Pappy said the tassle Buddy found in a Germany(?) pipe shop is nearly identical to the one lost.  Thanks for the pictures, Buddy!

It's hard to make out, but I believe it has the year on the bottom of the pipe, looks like 1761, if I'm not mistaken, or it's pipe number 761 or 76.  Might be the year though.  If it is this could have been out great-great grandfather's pipe? guessing?  Need to check Pappy's "reference novel" again.   Thanks, Buddy, for the pictures!  A carving of a man playing a lute or guitar can be seen on the front of the chamber.
